Ministry of Corporate Affairs - List of Services Available Online on MCA Portal

Do you know that a plenty of corporate services can be done online at the ease of sitting at home. The MCA portal provides a lot of services for the information of public and reducing paperwork. The maintenance task of the portal has now been delegated to Larsen & Toubro, which can be accessed at mca.gov.in.

Master Details of an entity:

With this facility of the ministry of corporate affairs, you can have access to all the master details of a company or LLP present with the Registrar of Companies (ROC). The following information can be availed from the master details of an organization-

Company Services:

The MCA portal also gives access to various company-related services, which makes work easier for the user. The available company services are-

  • Check Company name - Using this option, a user can search for a company by typing its name, this will help him in deciding the name of his company that he is willing to incorporate, and the problem of duplication of company names will not occur, leading to saved efforts, time and resources.

  • Find CIN (Corporate Identification Number) - This service allows the user to search the CIN of a company, if he has no knowledge about it. The user has to just type in either the company name or registration number to get the CIN of the desired company. The CIN can be useful for further corporate services.

  • SPICE+ - The SPICE+ or Simplified Proforma of Incorporation of Company Electronically is an all-in-one form to incorporate a company. Earlier, various forms were required to be filled upon in order to get a company incorporated. But the SPICE+ has simplified the things. Everything including DIN, Memorandum, Articles and other details are now done within a single window of SPICE+. In order to access this service, you need to be a registered user of the MCA portal.

  • RUN (Reserve Unique Name) - This service is the first process of incorporation of a company, wherein the promoter has to reserve a name for the company. The RUN window allows to reserve a particular name for the company for a period of 20 days, upon payment of specified fee. This service also requires you to be a registered user.

LLP Services:

  • Check LLP name - Using this option, a user can search for an existing LLP by typing its name, this will help him in deciding the name of his LLP that he is willing to incorporate, and the problem of duplication of LLP names will not occur, leading to saved efforts, time and resources.

  • Find LLPIN (LLP Identification Number) - This service allows the user to search the LLPIN of an LLP, if he has no knowledge about it. The user has to just type in either the LLP name or registration number to get the LLPIN of the desired LLP. The LLPIN can be useful for further corporate services.

  • RUN-LLP (Reserve Unique Name-LLP) - This service is the first process of incorporation of an LLP, wherein the partner has to reserve a name for the LLP. The RUN-LLP window allows to reserve a particular name for the LLP for a certain number of days, upon payment of specified fee. This service requires you to be a registered user.

e-Filing Services:

This window allows access to all the services related to downloads and uploads of forms for various purposes. Most of the corporate services are carried out by the use of forms.

  • LLP Forms - Here the user can download forms relating to the incorporation and management of Limited Liability Partnership firms. For example, Form 3 can be downloaded for updating information regarding LLP agreement, Form 4A can be downloaded for notice of appointment, cessation, change in particulars of a partners.

  • Company Forms - Like LLPs, the user also has the option to download forms relating to the management and regulation of a company from this window. For example, Form CRL-1 for information to the Registrar by company regarding the number of layers of subsidiaries of a company, Form CG-1 for filing application or documents with Central Government.

  • Upload e-forms - When the user has downloaded his desired forms from the two windows above, he needs to fill out the required details in the form, and then upload the same forms in this window. User needs to log in to hi account for uploading forms.

  • Download submitted form for resubmission - After logging in, the user can download the forms he has submitted earlier, and then after resubmit the form, if the earlier attempt was not successful.

  • Check Annual Filing Status - This service provides the facility to enquire whether a particular company or LLP has filed its annual return or not. It also shows the form number filed for a specific year. An illustration has been provided in the image below for reference.

  • Upload details of securityholder - A user can upload the details of his company/LLP's security holder, debenture holder or deposit holder. The user first needs to login to the MCA portal for uploading these details.

  • Update subsidiary details - Through this window, the details of the subsidiary can be updated. The user needs to type in the SRN (Service Request Number) and the CIN or Company Name, after logging in the MCA portal.

Director Services:

All services related to directors of a company and their DIN (Director Identification Number) are available in this section.

  • Apply for DIN - A user can apply for his DIN through the assistance of one of the three forms -

  • SPICE+ - For first directors of new companies.

  • DIR-3 - For becoming a director in an existing company.

  • DIR-6 - Updation of the details of directors.

  • Enquire DIN status - A user can check the status of a particular DIN using this facility, whether the DIN is active, the name of the director, and the date of approval of DIN.

  • Verify DIN-PAN details - The user can verify the DIN of a director from this option. Initially, the user needs to type the DIN and then the PAN of the director whose name is displayed on the portal to verify.

  • DIR-3 KYC - A director has to mandatorily update his KYC with the MCA every year for compliance. He can do so by logging into the MCA portal and availing this service, at the ease of sitting at home.

Digital Signature Services:

In order to ensure the security and authenticity of the documents filed electronically, digital signature certificates (DSC) are considered reliable to secure and authenticate the submission of documents.

  • Acquire DSC - There are a bunch of authorities that have been granted the license to issue digital signature certificates. MCA itself doesn't issue DSCs. The well know DSC issuing authorities include NIC, E-Mudhra, NSDL, Capricorn etc.

  • Associate DSC - Once you have been issued a digital signature certificate, before using it on the MCA portal, you need to register it on the portal for use. The same procedure applies to other platforms as well like GST portal or e-filing portal. For associating your DSC with the portal, you need to first select your role for which you are registering the DSC (Director, Practicing Professional, Authorized Representative etc.). Then after, you will be asked your personal details and the digital signature, which you need to upload it from the crypto-token issued to you.

  • Update DSC - In circumstances of emergency, when you have lost your DSC before its expiry, which was already associated on the portal, you can use the update DSC service for your respective role.

Document Related Services:

Using the MCA portal, we even have the access to the documents of the organizations registered with the Registrar of Companies.

  • Get certified copies - Using this option, a user can get access to every document of a particular company or LLP. The user only needs to type in the name of the organization, select the document required, and the document could be viewed after payment of a certain fee and stamp duty. User needs to be registered with MCA to avail this service.

  • Request for Scanned Documents - Once registered with the MCA portal, the user can ask for scanned copies of documents from a particular company or LLP. After filling in the details of the desired company/LLP, the portal will specify a date till when the scanned documents would be available to be viewed.

  • View Public Documents - This service allows the user to view the public documents of a company or LLP. User needs to just mention the details of his desired organization to view all public documents of the same company/LLP.

Fee and Payment Services:

  • Enquire Fees - User can have a look at the standard charges for a particular service on the MCA portal using this window. In addition to this, fees for every form filing related to companies and LLPs is also available here. The image below shows the standard charges of services.

  • Pay Later/NEFT/Miscellaneous Fee/Stamp Duty - The user has various options for making payment on the MCA portal. He can choose to pay later for a service already availed, he can also pay through NEFT (National Electronic Fund Transfer). Stamp duties and miscellaneous fees related to sundry services can also be paid from fee and payment services. In all the cases, the user needs to mention the SRN to be able to pay the requisite amount.

  • Track Payment Status - After typing the SRN of the payment made, the user can get to know about the status of his payment, whether the payment is successful or is still pending from the bank or portal end.

  • Generate SRN for offline payment - The MCA portal provides flexibility by having the option of offline payment. The user can generate SRN from this window and pay the required fees physically, by giving reference of the generated SRN.
